Friday Night Meals
Our Jewish Society provides a friendly and comfortable Shabbat eve atmosphere along with great food for our members. We have always tried to make sure that these occur at least every fortnight during term times, and 2007/2008 will be no different! Semester 1 will feature meals on 12th October, 26th October, 9th November, 23rd November and also 7th December (made extra special by the planning of Chanukah activities!). These are very popular with our members and help you to get over your homesickness for Friday Nights back at home, with home cooked food or if you like show off your own culinary talents! For more information email Deborah or David (addresses are on the 'contact us' page) or the info email address.
Socials Update!
Some fun times were had at our first social if lots of silly games and food and to the webmasters knowledge everyone bonded brilliantly....
Thanks to all who attended our first Friday night meal, it was great to see such a great turn-out as well as great food and fantastic homemade Challah!

**1/11:AN UPDATE** Again our thanks to everyone who came to last Fridays meal, was fantastic to see everyone and to see some great dishes served up by our members as well as yet more homemade Challah!
Also thank you to Socials Sec David for organising a very pleasant and friendly evening (although rainy!) for the restaurant social to 'Ask' in Leisure World.

Next Friday Night Meal is Friday, 9th November, hopefully we can have even more people having a great laugh and sharing in homemade food, all for £2 each!
Other Socials
MAKE A NOTE-THURSDAYS 1st, 15th AND 29th NOVEMBER 2007
Other Socials have been planned for the 1st, 15th and 29th November. In previous years these have included pub crawls, group cinema trips ('Borat' went down a treat!) and socials linked with Festivals (Purim pub crawl in fancy dress!) as well as other societies (Thanks to the Sikh Society; 'Bhaji's 'n' Bagels' was a big hit!).

We are however open to any dates and idea's that you may have, and for more information about these dates please contact David.

J-Soc Sports Teams
Last year we entered a 5-a-side football team into the Intramural competition down at the University Sports Grounds at Wide Lane & we hope to do the same again this year and perhaps include members in an 11-a-side team and a netball team too. Email David or Jonathan to register interest and for more information.
*AN UPDATE*:A team has now been registered to play intramural 5-a-side football at the University Sports Hall on Mondays (practises are on Wednesdays). The team, named Jewventus, won its first game against Bar-Barians 3-1. Any suggestions for a girls netball team would also be welcomed. Please feel free to contact the Sports Secretary Jonathan with any questions.
*ANOTHER UPDATE*:Jewventus lost in match two (1-2 against Team Arnold) but after a rousing fight back managed a 3-3 draw with History Society.
